| Day 14: Sunday, July 10, Halfway, Oregon to Council, Idaho rode 79.5 miles and climbed 3677 feet - Dennis says - we coasted 15 miles down to Pine Valley for breakfast in a very light rain and then it was time to parallel the Snake River, cross at Brownlee Dam and then climb out of Hells Canyon. Fortunately it was 66 degrees and cloudy and a perfect day to make the climb. Then to Cambridge for lunch and then to Council for the end of the day. Lyndsey says - Dennis actually suggested going on to Riggins since we were doing so well!!! more info click here Day 15: Monday, July 11, Council to Riggins, Idaho rode 61.1 miles and climbed 1725 feet today under blue skies and cool temps. It was wonderful! Here I sit having wild and crazy fun on the internet and my captain is over there sound asleep. Who do you think worked hardest? Our climb came early in the day and we coasted into Riggins after lunch at New Meadows. Beautiful scenery, so-so roads as far as room for a bike but today all the drivers were very courteous - and there were a lot of them! more info click here Day 16: Tuesday, July 12, Riggins to Grangeville We rode 49.1 miles and climbed 3231 feet. We left Riggins in the early morning shadows and traveled down along the Salmon River for almost 30 miles and had a light breakfast number 2 before exiting the highway at White Bird and beginning the 9 mile climb of about 2600 feet to White Bird Summit. The White Bird Alternate route was the quietest ride that we have had with only 2 or 3 cars passing in the entire 3 hours. It was just a beautiful hard ride. We slept late and really enjoyed an easy days ride down to Lowell where we found we were quite lucky to have made our reservation well in advance. It is an interesting little vacation spot and a lovely area.
