Day 30: Tuesday, July 26, 2005 We rode from Dubois to Lander – 77.7 miles with a climb of 2000 feet. Ray and Mary Hanson had helped us find lodging for tomorrow night when the mileage from Lander to Rawlins was 125 miles and we did not want that long a day! Ray put us in touch with someone in Muddy Gap and we arranged for a room there so the mileage would only be 85 miles and then a short day into Rawlins on Thursday. Then Ray and Mary invited us to stay at their home in Lander tonight and that has been such a pleasure for us. They are avid bikers and tandemers so they shared lots of stories about their tours and local rides.
We finally arrived in Lander after 5 p.m. and felt that there was no way we could handle an 85 mile day tomorrow—so Mary is going to give us a lift up to Sweetwater Station to avoid the long climb out of Lander first thing in the morning and our mileage will only be about 43 miles instead of 85. We will just have to come back here some day and ride that little section—maybe!

Since I started talking about Ray and Mary I will insert their photo first and then get on with the scenery of this day's ride
I took more than 200 photos today so it has been hard to choose which ones to insert.

leaving Dubois

I missed this sign coming in yesterday because it was pouring rain! Much nicer this morning

We stopped at the store and met up with some more of the Great Divide Tour riders as they were leaving in the other direction
