Day 8: Monday, July 4 th HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA! Another beautiful, cool, sunshiny day and it was a good ride. Dennis left the condo after loading the trailer into the rent car and then I spend an hour playing on the computer and then headed for the Redmond Airport. We arrived at the same time and he said it was a very easy ride—mostly downhill because our condo was at the highest point in Bend! He rode just over 18 miles and it was 39.5 miles the whole ride from Bend to Prineville so I did not miss so much!
There was a Firecracker Century today out of Bend which went another route to Prineville so we met a lot of tandems and singles on their return ride. There were other Northwest Tandem Rally ride routes for today too but many took advantage of this Century ride to get some extra miles.
Prineville is really a lovely little city in a beautiful valley and we had a wonderful downhill run the last couple of miles. So far Hwy 26 is a very good biking route and the views continue to be lovely. I have a feeling we will be asleep before the fireworks begins tonight!!
