Day 5 July 1, 2005 from Sisters to Bend, Oregon Finally! We seem to be off Tulsa Time! Slept until almost 8 this morning. First thing this morning I realized I forgot to mention a major occurrence yesterday—mosquitoes!! When we were at our absolute slowest and hardest climb they came at us with a furry! I beat them off Dennis and pretty much kept them off my arms and legs but this morning all the bites on my posterior were itching and let me know that they found that part and let me have it good!

Short day today so we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at the Coyote Creek Café and got on the road about 9:30.

Highway 20 from Sisters to Bend is very much like riding the Coast Highway from Oceanside to LaJolla in California—with mountain views in place of ocean views. Traffic is about the same and we are used to that so it was a good ride.

The highway went through rolling ranchland and the views were spectacular. The highest elevation for today was the ride up to our lodging at the Mt Bachelor Village Resort.

The Mt Bachelor Village Resort was our highest elevation for today!

Knowing we would have to make numerous trips in and out during the 3 days we are here, Dennis immediately rented a car and believe me it has been enjoyed very much. Our friends Rick and Vicki Thompson were already here and had scouted out all the breweries and great eating places so in just the few hours we have been here we have had a great tour and wonderful food!

The Northwest Tandem Rally is based at Summit High School which is about 2 miles from our lodging. This is one tandem rally that offers RV and tent camping and there were already a lot of tents set up when we took Rick and Vicki back to their RV. The officials of the rally did not put out a listing of all the participants so we will have to wait and see just who is here at tomorrow morning's ride meeting.
